FISH & WILDLIFE

The Sun River watershed is home to such a variety of wildlife - from Arctic Grayling and trout, to snow geese, to grizzlies - and so many others. SRWG works with partners including Fish Wildlife & Parks, Trout Unlimited, Missouri River Flyfishers, and others to improve habitat for fish and wildlife, including removal of invasive weeds so native vegetation can flourish and projects to improve water quality and reduce temperatures.

This page is still being developed. Enjoy the videos and photos below and be sure to check back for more information.

BIRDS

The Sun River watershed has a large variety of birds, including pheasants, owls, eagles, and more. This fall we were mesmerized by a group of waterfowl landing and taking off on this small private pond.

SRWG also holds an annual cleanup at Freezout Lake and sponsors the Wild Wings event in Choteau.

FISH

Under the advice of FWP, SRWG strives to consider fish habitat in all our projects. One of the most exciting opportunities for volunteers is our Fish Rescue Crew. Each year, Fish, Wildlife, and Parks biologists to move fish from canals back to rivers or lakes at the end of the irrigation season, often with the help of SRWG volunteers.
